I hope you had a great Thanksgiving (if you were celebrating it yesterday) and that you didn’t have any “gobble gobble” nightmares.

Did you know that there’s a compound in turkey which has actually been shown to increase the incidence of nightmares?

Ok, not really but its tryptophan content does make you sleepy. Not to mention what that extra serving of pie does to your waistline.

Ah the good old pie days…[pondering my youth falling asleep at dinner table].

Sorry, where was I?

Oh yeah!

As you probably know, today is officially “Black Friday” – a day that originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving.

Pretty neat, eh?

More recently, Black Friday has become a day of consumerism mayhem with many retailers opening their doors in the wee hours of the morning.

But since we don’t have any actual “doors” to open, since we’re open for business 24/7 online, we’ve still got some cool stuff for you.

Most notably, we’re giving away a FREE copy of one of my best fat loss workouts, Stability Ball Circuit 1, when you grab a copy of Sean Croxton’s new book – the Dark Side of Fat Loss.

Here are 3 good reasons I’m recommending you get his new book:

#1 – It contains the BEST fat loss information and education that I’ve ever come across in an easy-to-understand format.

After reading just the first few chapters, especially on leptin, starvation, and weight loss, you’ll have more insight and understanding of how your body works than most personal trainers!

#2 – Sean’s a holistic nutritionist – like me – and his fat loss advice actually betters your health instead of ruining it…like many other “fat diets”.

And by the way, the Dark Side of Fat Loss is NOT a fad diet.

#3 – Did I mention that you get a F.REE copy of my Stability Ball Circuit 1 workout ($29.95 value) when you grab his book before tonight at midnight?

==> Get yours here

I think I did (see above and previous emails) but today’s the last day to take advantage of this giveaway which will kickstart and rev up your fat loss engine.

All you have to do is email your purchase receipt to us at info(at)totalwellnessconsulting.ca and we’ll instantly send you the download links for the workout.

But remember…today’s the LAST DAY!

Listen, I know it’s Black Friday and you may be tempted to buy the latest iPad or “on-sale” gizmo but will those decisions really move you towards your health and fat loss goals?

Most likely not.

It’s unfortunate that the government doesn’t give tax credits for health investments like Sean’s “Dark Side of Fat Loss” and my Stability Ball Circuit 1 workout…

Because, in all honesty, it’s programs like ours that will bring true empowerment and happiness into your life. Much more than some gadget that will be obsolete by tomorrow.

Anyways, you know what I mean.

So if you’re serious about learning more about how to lose fat – the healthy way, then…

And then send your receipt to us at info(at)totalwellnessconsulting.ca and we’ll instantly send you the download links for the workout.

Looking forward to helping you work off that turkey (and pie)!

Your friend and coach,

Yuri

PS. Today’s the LAST DAY to take advantage of this unique offer.

Underground Fat Loss Secrets – Interview with Sean Croxton

In this interview, I’m going to be “interrogating” my good buddy and fellow nutritionist from San Diego, Sean Croxton. He’s the author of one of the best books I’ve ever read on the topic of healthy fat loss, which I’ll tell you about a little later in this report.

In this interview, Sean will be divulging some great information about fat loss, hormonal relationships inside the body and how that impacts your ability to lose weight, and some really interesting stuff regarding overall nutrition and our outlook on nutrition and fat loss.

Sean, like myself, has a kinesiology degree from San Diego State University. He’s also a CHEK-certified holistic lifestyle coach and a functional diagnostic nutritionist.

What I love about Sean is that his approach to nutrition is very similar to mine: He doesn’t mess around, there’s no crazy diets; it’s really about eating real food and being as natural as possible, and I really resonate with that.

And he’s also a great teacher, as he’ll show in this interview, where he actually explains how things work in the body, which makes it a lot more understandable, to understand why things happen, and it kinda motivates you to make better decisions.

He also runs one of the most popular channels on YouTube. It’s called Underground Wellness and if you haven’t stumbled upon one of his videos or if you don’t follow him on YouTube, I highly suggest that you do because, again, he shares tons of great nutrition and lifestyle and health education several times a week, and it’s really, really good stuff.

So, without any further ado let’s get into the interview….

LISTEN TO IT HERE:

[audio:http://www.yurielkaim.com/audio/seancroxton.mp3]

(Scroll to the bottom of this post for something special)

******************************************

READ IT HERE:

YURI: Sean, let’s start off by talking about thinking inside the box and what that means to you and what that means to the people listening to this.

SEAN: Thinking inside the box means that we’re not thinking laterally. We’re not working with all of the pieces to the puzzle when it comes to fat loss or even when it comes to health, and what I refer to in the book as the box is diet and exercise. It’s like it’s a cure for everything.

You wanna lose weight, diet and exercise. You wanna get your cholesterol scores down, diet and exercise. You wanna look good for the pool party next summer, diet and exercise.

It’s really all we know, and when we look at the results that we get from this diet and exercise slash calories-in, calories-out approach that we have, the results are very telling. The results tell us that this thing ain’t really working as well as it’s supposed to.

Albert Einstein—very, very brilliant man—he said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and over again and expecting a different result, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with this box. And so, in The Dark Side of Fat Loss, we do talk about the important stuff—diet and exercise and eating real food and exercising just enough—but we also do a lot of lateral thinking and start working with the other pieces of the puzzle, such as digestion and stress and sleep and talk about getting your mind right.

All of these things are like the ingredients for the recipe of success when it comes to fat loss, and not just fat loss, getting healthy, ’cause you have to get healthy in order to lose fat forever.

YURI: Let’s talk about going beyond exercise and diet. Obviously, that combination is not working for everyone. Why is that? Can you describe how leptin, starvation, and weight gain come into play?

SEAN: Oh, man, I don’t do anything briefly but I’ll try.

Just to go back to your point about fat loss and fat-loss books, I’m not a fan either. If I had my choice, I would’ve called this The Dark Side of Getting Healthy, but people aren’t gonna resonate with that very much and not buy it, so we decided to call it The Dark Side of Fat Loss because that’s what you get when you get healthy.

But leptin, leptin is like this forgotten hormone or just enough people don’t know about it because I think it was just discovered in 1994. It takes a little while for the public, and the doctors as well, to catch up with the research.

But the fat that we have, it doesn’t just sit there; it’s not just unsightly and all that. It actually does something. Fat is an endocrine gland. It works just like your adrenals and your pancreas and whatnot.

It makes hormones, it makes cytokines and other things like that, inflammatory cytokines and chemicals and whatnot. But I always say that human beings, when left to their own devices, will wipe themselves off the planet pretty darn fast, and so we have this built-in mechanism called leptin, which is like our survival, or starvation I should say, defense system.

And so, what’s going on here in somebody who has good-working leptin is this: The fat cells are making the leptin, the leptin is traveling to the brain kinda like a phone call. The brain gets that phone call, and that leptin tells the brain how much fat is in the fat stores.

That way the brain will know, “Hey, there’s enough fat stores. Sean has enough fat stores right now to get through that winter famine.” ’Cause if Sean didn’t, then he would have a problem. He would die from starvation. So, that’s the starvation system when it’s working properly.

Now, what happens here is, if we lived back in the day in Paleolithic times, of course, they lived off of their fat stores during the winter when there wasn’t a lot of food around and so their fat stores got smaller and smaller as time when on during the winter and there was less leptin. Since there was less fat, that means there was less leptin talking to the brain.

And the brain senses this; it gets that phone call, and it goes, “Hey, there’s less leptin coming in here, so there must be less fat stores. Sean needs to make it through this winter. What am I gonna do?”

So, there would be no reason if we were going through winter and we were living off our fat stores for your body just to keep on burning through them ’cause you would just die faster. So, the body says, “You know what? Let’s slow down Sean’s metabolism. Let’s increase his appetite. Slow down his metabolism to save his life, increase his appetite to motivate him to go out somewhere and get some food and eat it.”

Now, when you really think about this, this is kinda what we do with our fat-loss approach, right? We force fat off of ourselves with these low-calorie diets. Our fat stores tend to get smaller while our muscles get smaller; we lose a lot of water weight at the same time.

But all these things get smaller, there’s less leptin going to the brain, and then we go, “Well, why the heck did I hit a plateau?” Well, you hit a plateau because that leptin signal going to your brain is saying, “Hey, let’s slow down this person’s metabolism.”

And then you guys wonder, you go, “Oh, I lost some fat, but, man, I’m hungry. Whenever I come home all I wanna do is eat everything in the refrigerator.”

Again, that’s leptin cranking up your appetite.

I always say this. I say, “Why would a caveman go running during a famine?” because that’s exactly what we’re doing with our box approach, our diet-and-exercise approach.

We’re going for runs on the treadmill during a famine, and the famine is this voluntarily low-calorie famine that we’re putting our bodies through. So, that’s what’s going on. We forget all about leptin. We pay attention to insulin—some people do and that’s great—but we’re completely forgetting about leptin.

And just real quick, people out there may be thinking, Well, I’m overweight. Shouldn’t I have too much leptin? And shouldn’t all that leptin be talking to my brain and saying, “Hey, let’s really crank up this person’s metabolism, and let’s bring down this person’s appetite”?

Yeah, you would think that was the case, but most overweight people have something called leptin resistance, and what that means is that the fat stores are there, the leptin’s there, it’s sending the call to the brain, but the brain’s got the ringer off. The brain doesn’t hear that call.

So, the brain thinks that that person’s Skinny Minnie, going through a famine in the middle of winter back in 2000 B.C., and it says, “Let’s take down this person’s metabolism. Let’s increase their appetite.”

So, we have to overcome leptin resistance; we have to get rid of the things that are causing leptin resistance when it comes to our diet and lifestyle. I’ll give you a quick list of the things that cause leptin resistance. I told you I can’t give a brief answer.

Overeating; frequent blood sugar surges from our processed-carbohydrate diet; high triglycerides, which is typically from processed-carbohydrate diets; too much fructose and primarily high-fructose corn syrup, which is in pretty much everything these days; chronic stress.

These are things that are coming into play in people’s lives every single day, and at the same time, they’re wondering, Why am I overweight and why is my metabolism slow? Well, that’s exactly why, ’cause you’re probably leptin resistant.

YURI: Don’t insulin and leptin go hand in hand?

SEAN: Like you said, those two go hand in hand. Leptin and insulin are like brothers from a different mother, you know what I’m saying?

They’re in lockstep with each other; whatever’s negatively impacting one is impacting the other. They’re like Siamese twins. So, what you need to do is—that’s what the book is really about.

It’s about controlling insulin and managing your insulin and how it’s not just the food, guys. We tend to have this tunnel vision. “Oh, just stay away from the processed carbohydrates.”

Well, that’s part of it, but we have to stay away from the alcohol; we have to get sleep. Robb Wolf, in his book—and this is in my book as well—he says that just one night of sleep deprivation can make you as insulin resistant as a diabetic the following day.

If you’re insulin resistant, you’re storing fat, you’re in fat-storing mode. If you’ve got chronic infection, you’ve got insulin resistance. If you’ve got stress, you’re causing insulin resistance.

A toxin, these obesogens that are all over our environment and we’re rubbing into our bodies every day with our personal-care products, those cause insulin as well, and so, we have to stop having tunnel vision and get more of a lateral approach to these things.

YURI: What about cortisol – how does it promote “fatness”? And how does stress impact that as well?

SEAN: Gotcha. Chronic stress is just absolutely rampant. I mean, I work with real people, doing consulting, and they’re always very, very stressed. You know, long hours, raising kids, financial issues, all of these different things.

And cortisol is one of the hormones that is produced by the body when you’re stressed. Now, cortisol’s actually good for you. It reduces inflammation, it fights allergies, modulates the immune system, helps with recovery between workouts, so it’s a good thing; you just don’t want too much.

Now, when we go back in the day, before we had this type of Western, stressful lifestyle, the stress response was great. I mean, you’re walking around out in the jungle and you happen to stumble upon a lion or something like that, that’s good stress. Your body’s saying, “All right, crank up adrenaline, crank up cortisol.Let’s run or let’s fight this lion.”

Hopefully, you’re running, right? And then you find safety, and the thing is over. It’s all over with, you go about your day, and you’re chillin’, right?

Now we have chronic stress. So, it’s one stress bumping to another stress, that’s bumping to another stress. So, the example I give in the book is, you hit the snooze button too many times in the morning.

You get up, you’re running all over the house, stressed out, trying to get ready for work. You get in the car and you’re driving; you’re hitting every single light, and you end up in traffic.

You get to work late; your boss is looking at you crazy. You’re late for a meeting, which means you’re gonna miss lunch, which is stressing you out, and then your whole day is screwed.

So, our stress never seems to end. It’s just one on top of another on top of another, so our bodies never get to quite recover.

Now, is this the same thing as seeing a lion in the jungle? Absolutely not. It’s just a little bit stacked on top of a little bit that’s going into a little bit, so what’s called as chronic subtle hypercortisolism, okay?

It’s just too much cortisol throughout the day. When cortisol is up, your body’s freeing up blood sugar because it wants to fuel you for this stressful occasion.

When blood sugar’s up, insulin goes up.

When insulin is chronically up like that, you’re gonna get insulin resistance, and now you’re in fat-storage mode. Whenever insulin is up, you’re turning on your fat-storage hormones.

It’s like flipping a switch, like a light switch, turning on those fat-storage hormones as well as enzymes and turning off the fat-burning hormones and enzymes, and so we wanna control our stress so we can stop this whole cascade. I’ll give you one quick example—I can give you many.

Many people out there may know about the thyroid, how the thyroid is in control of the metabolism. And there’s two different types of thyroid hormones. There’s T4, which is the inactive thyroid hormone, and then there’s T3, which is the active form.

Now, that T4, the inactive form, needs to be converted into T3 to fire up your metabolism. What cortisol does is it inhibits that conversion, so stress actually slows down your metabolism; it slows down the thyroid.

So, here we go again where it’s not just food, it’s not just exercise; it’s also stress. And we also have to keep in mind the person out there who’s on the treadmill for an hour or two; well, that’s stressful to your body, so that can be coming into play here, which may be the reason why you’re doing all this cardio and all this training, but your body’s not changing at all. We have to take this into consideration.

YURI: So if you have high levels of cortisol, you’re more likely to gain abdominal fat, right?

SEAN: Exactly. There are four times more cortisol receptors in the deep abdominal layers than anywhere else in the body. You’re correct.

So when you compound stress plus alcohol plus refined carbohydrate consumption, we can see why it’s pretty easy to get a beer gut pretty rapidly.

YURI: One of the biggest questions I get asked is: Does eating fat make you fat? So, can you talk a little bit about the fallacy of fat consumption and its effect on gaining weight?

SEAN: Yeah. I mean, it’s been known for a really long time that insulin is the hormone responsible—primarily responsible, I should say—for the storage of fat, and, typically, insulin is negatively impacted by processed refined carbohydrates.

Fat doesn’t really affect insulin so much, and I should say specifically saturated fat. I always ask the question of people who are afraid of saturated fat: How does an old-school food or an old-school nutrient cause a brand-new disease? I don’t understand.

Heart disease has only been around for so long; cancer is extremely, it’s a huge contributor to death these days, but it wasn’t always that way, so I don’t understand how old foods can cause a brand-new disease. But saturated fats aren’t the problem; refined carbohydrates are the problem, ’cause they’re the ones that are cranking up our insulin levels as well as some of the other things that we’re talking about today.

Now, just real quick; I just lost my train of thought for, like, two seconds right there. Fat, okay, that’s what I wanted to get to. I had a thought one minute ago that wanted to make sure I brought up.

Now, there are different types of fat. Here we go. There’s saturated fat but there’s also polyunsaturated fat, like the vegetable oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, and canola oil.

Now, those fats can actually cause insulin issues and blood sugar issues as well. How so? It’s because these polyunsaturated fats can cause oxidative stress to your cells. So, they can cause damage to your cells.

Now, on your cells—if you imagine your cell looking like a ball—there’s receptors on the outside; there’s little keyholes for different hormones. Now, one of those keyholes would be an insulin receptor, but if you have a lot of oxidative stress in your body because you’re consuming too many polyunsaturated fats—and, again, primarily vegetable oils—you’re ruining or damaging those receptors, and now insulin can no longer do its job the way it’s supposed to do it, which is gonna create excess insulin out in the bloodstream, and now, again, you have a fat-storage issue.

So, saturated fats aren’t the problem; polyunsaturated fats from the wrong places are the problem, or in excess are the problem, and monounsaturated fats aren’t so bad for you, and those can be like olive oils and whatnot.

When we’re talking about those kinds of vegetable oils, we’re talking about the oils that are found in pretty much all packaged foods (canola, soybean oils, etc…).

YURI: You’ve coined a term called “JERF”. What does JERF mean, and why should people apply JERF to their life?

SEAN: JERF means “just eat real food,” and it came from a blog that I wrote several months ago called “This is Silly.” It was really about all the debating and all the hating that goes on in the blogosphere about “My diet says,” “No, my diet says…”

Me working with real people over the last several years, trying different dietary approaches, whether it be Atkins or Food Guide Pyramid or South Beach Diet or metabolic typing, these things can be very restrictive for a lot of people, and the adherence rate is relatively low.

And if you look at Weston Price and the people whom he studied, what do you see? One thing that they all have in common is that they just ate real food and that there was no one-size-fits-all diet.

So, that’s what JERF is all about. It’s not about having a label, you know, I’m raw vegan, I’m Paleo. It’s like, yo, let’s just eat real food, and at the same time, let’s find out what works right for ourselves.

If you look at Weston Price, you’ve got the Maasai of Africa who have, like, an 80 percent fat diet, or you can look at the Katavans, who have, like, a 70 percent carbohydrate diet, both equally healthy. And so, when someone’s trying to tell me, “Hey, this is the best diet,” I go, “Well, it’s the best diet for you or for Katavans or for a Maasai tribesman?”

So, we have something in the book called a Body Language Log, which I’ve been using with my clients for quite a bit, and it just helps us to tune in and to listen to the body because, as I state in the book, 50 percent of the working population, after lunch, wants to crash at their desk and go to sleep. And they don’t put two and two together and go, “Oh, maybe it was that hoagie or that bowl of chow mein that I had for lunch,” so you wanna get people listening to the body and figure out what works right for them.

So, with the Body Language Log, write in the foods, you write in the proportions as well, you know, was it 75 percent protein and 25 percent carbohydrates? Was it the other way around? Was it fifty-fifty?

And an hour or two after you consume that meal, you go ahead and check that reaction, your positive reaction based on your satisfaction, energy, and your mood and or your negative reaction. And you can use these Body Language Logs to figure out what works right for you.

I’ll just give you a quick example. If an hour or so after a meal you feel physically full but still hungry, that’s a sign that you’ve eaten too much fat and protein. If your brain is kinda foggy, that’s a sign that you’ve had too much carbohydrates.

And so, you can use these Body Language Logs to dial things in, because if there’s anything that we know about the human body is that it will tell you when you’re right, and it will tell you when you’re doing things wrong. And so, when you listen to what the body’s saying, that’s when you start doing things that way that your body wants to and the way that you have been designed or your own, I should say, biochemical individuality, because you are a unique individual.

YURI: Thanks Sean. We’ve covered so much ground in this brief interview and instead of overwhelming our listeners and readers with too much more stuff, I’m simply going to suggest that EVERYONE grab a copy of your book…The Dark Side of Fat Loss.

SEAN: Like I said earlier, it is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read on how to lose fat in a healthful manner.

Thanks Yuri, I appreciate that.

YURI: Absolutely. I mean it. Is there anything else you want to finish with that you think would be important for people to know about or understand?

SEAN: Just be sure that you read the last chapter, Chapter 10, about getting your mind. Me and Yuri, we can give you all of the tools and all of the knowledge, but if your mind isn’t right, a lot of people tend to sabotage themselves.

Again, working with people, it’s something I find quite frequently, and it’s kinda what I did with this book for so many years, until I got my mind right and said, “Hey, I’m gonna go ahead and finish this thing.”

So, check out Chapter 10 because if you really wanna put this stuff to work so it’ll work for you, definitely take some of those tips in Chapter 10 to get your head right.

YURI: Thanks Sean.

Want to know what he did? I’ll tell you in the video below.

After making this one adjustment to his diet, Novak skyrocketed to the #1 ranking in men’s tennis, won 3 major grand slams, and took home more prize money than any other tennis player (in history) in a single season!

Pretty awesome, right?

Even if you’re not a pro athlete this simple dietary change WILL help you lose weight, reduce inflammation in your body, reduce the stress on your digestive system, and so much more.

You can (and should) do this.

In the video, I also share another great post-workout smoothie that I know you’ll really enjoy.

Watch the video and I encourage you to take my 4-day challenge:

If You Want to Know More About Eating for Energy, Then…

You’re searching for 1 of 2 things:

1. How to eat for energy – what types of foods to eat, which is the best diet for energy, etc…, OR

2. My Eating for Energy program

The good news is that in this post I’m going to give you the answers to BOTH of those common queries.

[NOTE: At the very bottom of this post, I'm also going to be giving you 87 of my favourite energizing smoothie recipes - absolutely FREE - so keep reading!]

But before we begin looking at the former – how to eat for more energy – I first want to show how opting for quick-fix energy solutions like sugar, energy drinks, and coffee are more detrimental than you think.

And it all has to do 2 vital organs – your adrenal glands and your pancreas.

The adrenal glands are your “fight or flight” organs – releasing cortisol and adrenaline during periods of stress. Interestingly, these same hormones are secreted when STIMULANTS (like caffeine and sugar) enter your bloodstream.

Here’s how this scenario plays out…

When you become stressed (or ingest stimulants), your adrenals start ramping up their activity. So, they release adrenaline and cortisol – two “catabolic” hormones which break down your energy reserves for immediate use. Remember, your body thinks it’s in a state where it needs to FIGHT or FLEE – so it needs that readily available energy.

Cortisol, when chronically present in your bloodstream, is a detrimental hormone leading to quick glycogen depletion, a rise in blood sugar, and eventually weight gain. Adrenaline has similar energy-depleting effects. It also raises your heart rate and increases your blood pressure. As you can tell, having these 2 hormones constantly circulating at high levels is not a desirable situation.

The other problem with having high levels of these hormones is that since they breakdown your stored carbohydrates for energy, releasing glucose (sugar) into the blood for immediate use, your pancreas is then called into action.

Your pancreas – as you may know – secretes INSULIN to remove glucose out of the blood to be stored in your muscle, liver, and fat cells.

So, if this cycle of rising and falling blood sugar persists you end up with low blood sugar (or hypoglycaemia). In this state, all “normal” decision making is thrown out the window as all you can think of is “I need sugar. I need sugar.” And that’s when most people seek out their next quick fix – a mid-day coffee, chocolate bar, or Red Bull.

But that’s not all because this scenario also drains your adrenal glands – setting you up for all-day fatigue in the future.

Chronic stimulation (ie. stress, sugar, coffee) of your adrenals wears them down and can eventually lead to adrenal fatigue. That’s one of the reasons that many people feel “drained” almost instantly when dealing with stress. Their adrenals simply can’t handle it anymore.

At the same time, sugar cravings (and salt cravings) come part and parcel with this situation.

So, hopefully by now, you can see that eating for energy via high-sugar foods, energy drinks, and coffee is a surefire to wear down your body. Not a great trade-off for a quick hour surge of energy, if you ask me.

How to Eat for More Energy – Done Right!

Now, that we’ve looked at what NOT to do, let’s look at how to eat for more energy.

And here’s a simple answer…

Eat more raw plant foods (fruit and veggies) and fewer (or no) processed food.

Why?

Well, I forgot to mention something REALLY important regarding sugar cravings, which is directly related to your intake of processed foods which contain sugar.

Eating processed sugar elevates your insulin levels which, in turn, severs the communication between LEPTIN and the brain.

Leptin normally tells your brain that you are FULL and SATISFIED.

But when this doesn’t happen, due to chronically high levels of insulin in the blood, your brain thinks you are still hungry, especially for more sugar.

Thankfully, this doesn’t happen when you eat raw foods – even fruit.

And that’s because eating fruit – even though they contain fructose and glucose – doesn’t create nearly the same insulin response as processed sugar due to the immense of amount of fibre contained within the fruit.

That’s just ONE reason why eating more raw foods is a blessing with respect to eating for energy.

There are also several other reasons why raw foods “rock the house” when it comes to boosting your energy. Let’s have a brief look at them.

3 More Reasons Eating for Energy Through Raw Foods is the Way To Go

First, raw foods contain a lot of water and that’s important because your body is predominantly composed of water. When you don’t have enough (ie. dehydration) you get tired and cannot function properly.

Plus, if you’re dehydrated, then your blood will be too. Since water makes up a great proportion of your blood, being dehydrated thickens your blood, making it more difficult to circulate the necessary nutrients and energy-yielding oxygen to your cells.

Raw foods are great because they are water-rich, which means you don’t have to worry about consuming liters upon liter of pure water.

Rather, just by eating your 8 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables (or more) per day you can get all the water you need, which will boost your energy dramatically.

The second reason raw foods boost your energy is because they are highly alkalizing.

This is very simple but important to remember…

Alkalinity = energy

Your blood requires a slightly alkaline pH of 7.35-7.45. Unfortunately, due to the western diet most people are hovering a little lower than – meaning their blood is more acidic.

If your blood is acidic, then as with dehydration, it becomes sluggish. Essentially, your red blood cells (which carry oxygen to your cells) begin to clump and stick together, resulting in an efficient bloodstream for delivering oxygen to your cells.

And if your cells don’t get any oxygen, well then they’re not going to be producing much energy, right?

As opposed to animal products, grains, and refined foods, raw fruits and vegetables are highly alkaline forming ,which means that they leave a alkaline ash in your bloodstream once metabolized.

The reason for this is that they contain GREATER amounts of the alkaline minerals – calcium, magnesium, and potassium – and leave less acid-forming protein and phosphorus in your body upon digestion.

And that’s a good thing.

It is for this reason that eating for energy should ALWAYS be about improving your body’s alkalinity. And it couldn’t be more easy then by eating more fruits and veggies (preferably in there raw state).

The third reason that eating more raw fruits and veggies boosts your energy is because they contain higher amounts of vital nutrients and food enzymes.

Sure, most plant foods contain less protein than animal-based foods but they are MUCH MUCH greater in their contribution of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting phytonutrients. And when your body is nourished with the micronutrients that it needs, it flourishes with unstoppable vitality!

Research from the USDA has shown that when fruits and vegetables (and all food for that matter) are cooked, they lose a significant amount of their vitamin and mineral content. Not only that, but cooked foods also lose their important food enzymes.

Although some skeptics might discredit the importance of food enzymes, I can tell you firsthand that eating RAW is a lot easier to digest then most cooked foods. But keep in mind that since raw plant foods contain their cell walls (ie. fibre) it can lead to gas and bloating in some cases. But there’s an easy remedy for that – blend your foods.

Personally, I love making smoothies because BLENDING breaks down the tough cell walls and allows your body to access the vital nutrients within these amazing raw fruits and veggies that much easier.

But you won’t be able to experience the amazing energy-boosting effects of these foods if you’re constantly eating DEAD, cooked food.

Just think about it…

How did you feel after Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner?

Probably knocked out, right?

I can’t remember a single BIG festive meal that actually energized me. And that’s because eating such hard-to-digest foods in large quantities is a recipe for….well…a food coma.

3 Energy for Eating Tricks

Now that we’ve covered 3 important ways that raw foods give you more energy, I want to help you implement their benefits into your daily life.

So here are 3 of my favourite “eating for energy tricks” that I KNOW will make a massive difference for you.

First, make a green smoothie.

The easiest way to add more fruits and vegetables into your diet is by blending them. It’s quite simple really…add your favorite fruit and some green vegetables together, add some water, and blend it all together.

And presto!

You’ve just consumed several servings of fruits and vegetables in a delicious smoothie that takes no more than 2 to 3 minutes to make. And, drinking smoothies reduces the burden on your digestive system because the blender has predigested the foods and broken down much of the fiber.

The second way to add more raw foods in your diet is by making a green salad at least once a day.

Again this is rocket science. Simply grab some lettuce, add a couple tomatoes or other vegetables that you enjoy, and there you go. You now have added even more servings of vegetables and fruit into your day.

The third way to add more raw foods is your diet is simply by eating more raw foods throughout the day.

Okay that seems a bit obvious let me explain…

What I mean by this is simply eat an pear. Eat a banana. Have a papaya.

By eating your favorite fruits and vegetables naturally throughout the day you inherently increase the intake of life giving, energy producing, and nutrient dense plant foods.

All of this combined leads to greater health, vitality, weight loss, and energy.

So even if you’re still eating other foods like meets or grains, applying these 3 simple raw food strategies will improve your health and vitality and that’s what diet to improve energy is all about.

I’ve now given you several GOLDEN nutrition strategies to boosting your energy. These strategies have already transformed the lives of more than 47,000 people just like you thanks to my best-selling program, Eating for Energy.

And that brings me to the 2nd part of this post. If you’ve been searching for answers about this best-selling raw food program, then here we go…

What is Eating for Energy?

Eating for Energy is a raw food diet program that I developed in 2007 to help health-conscious individuals (like you) lose weight, enjoy greater health, and have way more energy, even if they’ve tried every other diet, weight loss gimmick, or energy “quick fix” on the market.

What makes Eating for Energy different from all the other raw food programs is the fact that it’s been designed for everyday people like you and me.

That’s why I call it the “Raw Food Diet for REAL People”.

Like me, you’re probably busy with work, family, or school and your more realistic than to believe that you’ll be picking “miracle” foods from a forest. That’s why this program is for you!

Most raw food books consist of gourmet recipes that take 24-48 hours to make with hard-to-find ingredients. And since so many of their recipes are based on dehydrating copious amounts of calorie-dense nuts and seeds (for crackers, crusts, etc…) you can actually end up gaining more weight and feeling more lethargic than before!

Conversely, Eating for Energy is all about FRESH ingredients and EASY recipes that take less than 10 minutes to prepare. Hey, I’m lazy, what can I say.

==> Start Eating for Energy

Eating for Energy is a program that I developed initially for myself as I was battling several health issues including a severe lack of energy and an auto-immune condition. Within a few short weeks of applying my very nutrition principles I was able to TRANSFORM my health and my life. It was an incredible journey and I’ve never looked back.

And I want the same success for you.

Yes, Eating for Energy is based on eating more raw plant foods but…

My goal is NOT to convert into a hardcore raw foodist. I’m not one but I do believe (and have experienced) that transitioning to more of a raw plant-based diet is healthiest for all human beings. If you want continue eating meat or whatever else, then that’s up to you. But if you can simply add more fruits and veggies into your diet – as you show in the program – I GUARANTEE you’ll look and feel younger than ever.

Plus, are there really any scientific studies that show that eating MORE fruits and vegetables is actually bad for you? I don’t think so!

Who is Eating for Energy For?

Eating for Energy is for anyone looking to look and feel better, while dramatically improving their health and vitality in the process.

At a more specific level, it is for those:

- who want way more energy than what can be provided by stimulants such as red bull or coffee,

- looking to lose weight (in a healthful manner),

- who want to shock their doctors with a newfound incredible level of health,

- and for people who want to make raw foods an integral part of their life.

What You Get with Eating for Energy

Eating for Energy is a 360-page nutrition bible.

The first part of the program shows you WHY it is important to add more plant-based foods into your diet. In this first part, you’ll discover the scientific rationale and studies showing the great powers of pH balance (and alkalinity), enzymes, life force within foods, and the truth about our food supply.

The second part of Eating for Energy is the “HOW TO”. This is where I hold your hand and guide you step-by-step as you look to apply the nutrition principles discussed in Part 1.

This second part includes my 10 Success Habits, 12 Eating for Energy superfoods (that you can grab at your local grocery store), 4 Essential Supplements, my Food Combining Principles (and steps to good digestion), 5 Pillars of Health, and my step-by-step “easy transitioning” process.

But that’s not all…

Having all that information and guidance is great but to make your life as easy as possible you also get:

The Healthy Recipe Guide – which contains 120 raw food recipes that take LESS THAN 10 MINUTES TO PREPARE!

I’m naturally pretty lazy and I know most people don’t really have time to spend hours everyday preparing healthy meals, right?

That’s why ALL the recipes in Eating for Energy are quick to make, convenient, and as a result based on fresh, natural ingredients – not dehydrated pounds of nuts and seeds!

To follow these great recipes, you also get:

The Smoothie and Juice Guide which contains 40 of my all-time favourite raw food smoothies and juicing recipes. Again, these are simple to make and take no time at all.

And to help you put all these recipes into practice, you also get:

The 12-Week Meal Plan which gives you the meal-by-meal, day-by-day structure for all the recipes in the program.

Just follow my structure plan and you’ll lose weight and feel more energetic than you ever dreamed possible.

Finally, for those athletes out there (recreational exercisers or competitive), I’ve also included a bonus called Nutrition for Athletes, which will give the exact formula for how and what to eat before, during, and after training or competition.

Eating for Energy is probably the most comprehensive healthy eating program, which happens to be raw, you’re likely to come across and I guarantee that you’ll love it!

==> Start Eating for Energy

Most importantly though…

It’s my mission to help you. In fact, my mission is to empower 10 million people by 2018 through my programs (like Eating for Energy) because I’ve seen firsthand just how amazing life can be when you’re fit and healthy.

We also uncovered the fact that about 30% of the fructose in sugar (sucrose) is metabolized as fat.

Over time, this can lead to some pretty nasty consequences, namely…added fat.

Other than looking fatter, there’s another big problem with fat cells…

They store HUGE amounts of toxins. But hold on…that’s kind of a good thing because otherwise those toxins would freely roam around your body.

But hold on again…

They do that too.

“So Yuri, you’re telling me that I can be FAT and TOXIC?”

You bet.

And, in fact, that’s a great way to describe what’s going on in a little more than 60% of the North American population. Not only is sugar a big problem, but so too are the copious amounts of chemicals we’ve ingested over the years.

But let’s not forget that sugar itself is also a toxin, especially when consumed regularly!

And remember how we saw that exercise speeds up the sugar metabolism, essentially preventing it from being stored as fat?

That just goes to show you that fat burning is a process that happens at the CELLULAR level.

How Your Cells Burn Fat

Without going into all the scientific lingo, that basically means that your body’s CELLS are actually what decide if/when/how they
want to be broken down and melted away.

If the cells aren’t able to function properly, then fat burning doesn’t happen…PERIOD!

This is why so many people feel like they’re working hard and eating right…

…but STILL don’t see the changes on the scale!

Have you ever felt this way?

Most people have and it’s extremely frustrating, isn’t it?

What’s REALLY Holding Back Faster Fat Burning…

Your body’s cells are actually ALREADY designed to operate in rapid fat-burning mode.

The problem is that they get bogged down with outside contaminants.

In other words…”toxins”!

You can’t escape them.

They’re in your food… your water… the air you breathe… your home… even your shampoo!

What’s happening is that your “bucket” is overflowing with toxins. When that happens…disease strikes!

These “poisons” enter your body in tiny amounts and fortunately, a lot of them are filtered out of our body through the liver and other organs.

The problem is that your body was never designed to deal with the HUGE amount of environmental toxins you and your family now face
on a daily basis.

In fact, did you know that…

…in the last 12 months, you and your family have consumed about 14 POUNDS of chemicals?

It’s sad, but true!

At these levels, there’s just no way for your body to get rid of it all.

So the excess toxins are instead stored away INSIDE of your body rather than eleminated as waste.

And one of the main places they’re stored…is in your body’s FAT CELLS!

When this happens, your cells’ mitochondria (the “energy centre” of your cells) are unable to function at full capacity.

That means that although you “want” them to work at top speed and help you achieve your “dream body”…

…they just CAN’T!

It’s IMPOSSIBLE in such a polluted state.

The worst part is that these toxic wastes build up slowly over time so you don’t even feel it’s happening.

But these wastes can stick around in the body for YEARS, silently building up higher and higher, sabotaging your metabolism and creating an environment for all sorts of health problems and disease.

I know it sounds like you’re screwed, but you’re not…

How to create fatburning “super-cells”…

The absolute best way to get your cells back up to “turbo-speed” is to REMOVE the toxins that are poisoning them.

This is known as “detoxing”.

There’s been a lot of buzz about detoxing (or “cleansing”) lately due to many Hollywood celebrities claiming how amazing it is.

Well, it really is!

Unfortunately, a lot of the trendy cleansing programs out there now are waaaaaay too extreme for the average person and end up
being a miserable experience.

But done the RIGHT WAY, a detox can be an AMAZING (even life-changing!) adventure where you…

…experience non-stop, all day energy

…actually “feel” lighter and cleaner inside

…have a “happier” look on life (toxin are also freed from the brain!)

…even DOUBLE your fatburning results!

The secret is to make the detox process not only EFFECTIVE…but EASY-TO-FOLLOW as well!

How to Make “Detoxing” Easy (and Amazing!)

The process of detoxing isn’t as mysterious as it may sound.

In fact, yesterday I told you an about a new program a good friend of mine, Jeff Anderson, and I put together that exposes LIES that we’re all being told about the levels of toxins in our environment.

But more than that, it also includes a simple, easy-to-follow ”blueprint” of exactly what to do to purge your body of these harmful chemicals.

The website with all the information is at:

==> Easy 3-Day Detox

(IMPORTANT: See special launch discount info below!)

The best part is that this simple detox program…

* Is PERFECT for the “beginner” detox

* It includes ADVANCED techniques for the more experienced detox advocate.

* Lays everything out step-by-step
