Interval Training Every Day?

Should you do interval training every day?

That’s the question I answer in this episode of “Ask Yuri”.

Here’s the question that was asked of me on this topic a little while ago:

“Yuri, my situation is I lift on monday, wednesday, and fridays, and do intervals right after.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I do slow cardio to keep myself at least a little busy for like 20 mins and then do another maybe 10 mins of interval consisting of about 5 sprints.

I generally rest on the weekends unless if I get too bored.

So my question is, is it ok to do intervals Monday through Friday? Or should I just limit it to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday?

Thank you.”

What the video for the answer to this interval training question.

Yes, I struggle with limiting my intervals. I LOVE the Treadmill Trainer series – so I enjoy doing those about 4-5 times a week. Scaling back is always an issue for me. (I’m working on it.) Meanwhile, GREAT ADVICE!

i have been doing intervals practically every day for the last 4 weeks and have defnitely toned up, not to mention losing abt 3-4 kg.
My intervals consist of 8-10 fifteen second sprints ( at 12km/hr speed bcoz thats the max my threadmill can do))with abt 30 second rest in between. To be honest it is not really wearing me out that much unless I mix it up with some weights on the day itself.
Am just wondering whether I can be doing more..?

Sounds good Kev. I like shorter harder sprints like that. But feel free to change it up now and again to offer more variety and challenge. You can increase the number of intervals (ie. from 8-10 to 12-15), or increase the sprinting time to 20 seconds, or reduce the recovery time. Try playing with only variable at a time.
