A lot of you guys have asked me how to combine strength training and cardio for maximum fat burning results.
And that’s a great question because there are different points of view depending on who you speak to.
Specifically, here’s a question I recently received on this topic:
“After seeing your videos i felt the most confident in asking you for some advice that involves losing permanent weight. I am a 23/male/183/5’6 whose major goal is to not only slim down twenty pounds but to also gain lean muscle/”golden ration.” Every other week I focus on either cardio or weight training. For the past 2 months I have built a good base to where i’m confident enough to take on harder challenges. I do my best to eat right everyday. Taking your advice I am now doing intervals (20 work:40 rest) on my cardio weeks.
But I still get a feeling as if though i’m not being as efficient as I can be. My concern is that I may pay too much focus on one or the other too long in a given week instead of mixing it up. Is this the most productive plan/path to my goals that I want to reach?
Week 1: intervals, MWF
Week 2: full body workout, MWF
Week 3: intervals, MWF
Week 4: 5 indiv. muscle groups, M-F
*plus a one day weekend activity every weekend.
Thank you,”
Alejandro
