The Surprising TRUTH About Dessert

What if I told you that eating dessert could actually help you lose weight?

What if I told you that eating dessert could do your “mind” a world of good?

Well, that’s what I’ll be discussing in today’s video in which you’ll discover:

  • 2 studies that have revealed truly surprising results with respect to dessert and your waistline.
  • an interesting psychological study that recommends never choosing food in a particular mental state.
  • and more.

Enjoy…

Oh, and here’s the “healthy” raw chocolate mousse recipe that I refer to in the video:

2 avocados
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
5 fresh dates
1/4 cup coconut milk (or water)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt

1. Soak the dates in the coconut milk (or water) until soft (about 10-20 minutes).

2. In a blender, add the avocado, dates, milk, and other ingredients and blend until smooth (add more liquid if needed to facilitate blending).

3. Chill in fridge or serve immediately. Top with your favourite berries if you like.

    Hi Yuri,
    Thanks for your emails.

I don’t have sound so watching your videos is not so helpful for me. Could you maybe provide a written alternative to your videos for me and other people with no sound?

    Kind Regards,
    Cyndi.

Great “raw chocolate mousse recipe”. Just one question. What amount would you consider a portion? Is this for one person or four?

    Hi Yuri,

Love what you provide. I’m going to try this recipe with my kids. The only concern is that there is a lot of controversy surrounding the use of raw cacao. What is your view on this?

    Stay well, Eileen.

Good video. Thanks. It got me thinking about the whole sweetener thing.
I’ve been investigating (reading and making recipes) coconut crystals as a sweetener.
Ive read about the electrolyte value of the water and the neuro-protective fat in coconut oil, so I was wondering given the low glycemic index and decrease carb, as compared to other sugars, if the crystals are a good substitute.

This video is bang on! I truly believe that our mind has much more control over how we look at food, exercise, etc. than most people think. I know from my own life that after having a healthy meal that all I need is one small piece of chocolate to “reward” myself for eating well. And I do just that. I agree with the concept of the rebellious mind taking over if you don’t let yourself have this little pleasure.
Thanks for the great information Yuri, it helps keep me on the golden road to health living.

GREAT message in this post!!!! Since 2009 (the year I had my A-HA moment) I can say that my MINDSET changed! I have always believed that this IS the KEY to true health and weightloss! I have also believed that DEPRIVATION is not the answer to a long term healthy life (and I just cringe at those who use it as a way to loose weight). My goal is to be healthy and fit! Thanks Yuri for ALWAYS providing me with “food for thought”!!!!

    Sincerely

    Pam :)

Good points but myself I would be more content with cottage cheese. Chocolate and sweet deserts I find addictive.

    Hi Yuri,

Some people praise raw cacao as the ultimate superfood while others say it is toxic and actually bad for you. What info do you have on the subject?

    Thanks.

Both sides are true. Raw cacao is a powerful antioxidant but too much of it can also wear down your adrenals. I would enjoy it in moderation. Unless you’re eating copious amounts of it, I don’t think you’ll have any issues.

Love hearing about healthy deserts. A couple questions.
    1. Don’t Dates have a high Glcymic Index.
    2. What are your thoughs on substituting chopped coconut for the dates (as it is also sweet).
    3. You mentiones, in Super Nutrition Academy, Xylitol as a sweetner, could this be substituted or does it not provide enough volume. That would be good just because it is good for your teeth.
    4. Can Xylitol be replaced in your recipies where you previously have recomended Agave (as I know you have backed down on using Agave as a sweetner because of its high glcymic index because of the high fructose in it).

    Thank You!

      1. Yes, but when balanced with other healthy fats/protein the total glycemic load is reduced.

      2. Sure. But dates also serve the purpose of binding things together. Not sure if coconut will do that too.

      3. Yes, you can use it but you won’t be getting the binding power of dates. Maybe adding chia seeds could help with that.

      4. Definitely.
