How many push-ups and pull-ups can you do?
I have a pull up bar in my basement – about 8 feet away from my desk – and I’m embarrassed to admit that I rarely use it.
Really…I have no excuse.
So today, I thought I would get myself accountable by shooting video of me cranking out as many pull-ups as possible.
But that’s not all…
After the pull-ups, I hit the floor and pumped out as many push-ups as my body could tolerate.
Now, it’s your turn…
How many chin-ups/pull-ups and push-ups can you do? Go ahead – give it a shot and let me know below.

My pushups are quite close to your number, but not so much the chinups…got any idea why? I’ve been wanting to get my pullup number higher, but it’s not happening. Pushups are easy for me to get higher though. Help pls!! lol.

Weird, cause it just happened that I did this exact thing yesterday as a test to start the 20 pullup challenge and 100 pushup challenge. I managed

I really appreciate you owning up to not using your pull up bar, even though it’s really close to your desk. You’re right, there are no excuses. But you were honest with us and also gave us a challenge. You’re real. I like that.

Anyways, I can do only half a pull up LOL …seriously, I can’t get myself up all the way. And I can do about 15 push ups on my knees. :s I would LOVE to be able to do more pull ups though, …or at least one for that matter lol Have any tips for getting started with pull ups?

Power to you Danielle. I believe what Bonnie was referring that pull ups and pushups in general are typically more difficult to do since women hold more weight in their hips and have less upper body strength (proportionally) than men. Since push-ups focus primarily on the upper body (shoulders, chest, & arms) it’s typically easier for men to do these exercises. BUT, if you are healthy, train and eat properly you’ll add strength regardless of whether you’re a man or woman. You’ve demonstrated this and congrats coming from a highly testosterone male that pushes a lot of weight *485 bench* in the gym!

Hey- good work. Notice- chinups are excersises for LATS- So I do them totally hanging down at end for the LAT stretch. TOO many people think chin-ups/pullups are for ARMS
But- u did good- the last 2 are what I do for my lat spread- at bottom, it takes a ton of power to come out of that- so reps are LOW< but its What ur performing the excersises for, that counts
, At 300 pounds I couldnt do 1 chin-up or 1 pushup, but cud bench 300 lbs and lat pulldown 250 lbs.!?
P90X and now 250 lbs I can do 4 chin-ups Properly and 30 pushups. BACK kills when planking- L5/S1 buldge, so trying to stay straight in a pushup just is excruciating, so not many pushups. Weighted bench press and lat pull downs for me, but Body weight is TOTALLY crazy for development- just WAY different than free weights and alternate style excersises for same muscle groups

I tried to do it and olny got 9 pull ups and 29 push ups -im a girl though so i think i did okay and i did my best.

I did 18 chin ups/40 push ups. A little disappointed in the chin up total. Definitely not happy with the push ups. Really thought I could get 20/50. Looks like I have something to aim at!

It would be nice to have everyone comparing the same thing. The title itself says “Pull ups”. Chin ups are much different and most can pound out quite a few more chins than pulls.
Also, Yuri’s are palm to palm (easier) and actually become more of a chin-up on the way up due to the swivel.
Not slamming anyone, just makes it hard to compare since everyone is doing something different.

I’ve got a tree limb out back, with about a 4″ grip, that I crank out around 25-30 pull-ups on (could likely do more with a narrower grip), and just dropped down and knocked out 65 push-ups with proper form (elbows in). I think at my best, about 10 years ago, I was doing 46 pull-ups and 90-some push-ups, but unfortunately I’m not quite as active these days. Anyway, good job everybody… keep moving!

I am 185 pound, 38 yrs old. I am hoping to do at least 12 pull ups. we’ll see
